Q: Who Are You Today?
I’m Coco, an Experience Designer based in Beijing.
To me, a meaningful journey is never just about where you go—
it’s about how you feel while you’re there.
I’ve lived in this city for more than ten years, and what I love most about guiding is the chance to help travelers feel welcomed, understood, and genuinely connected with Beijing.
Rather than simply leading people from place to place,
I focus on designing the atmosphere, the pacing, and the emotional rhythm of a day—
the small details that make a traveler feel at ease and truly present.
Q: Coco, How Did You Found Your Calling?
Before guiding, I worked as a test engineer at a travel website.
My days were made of code, data, and logic.
It was stable, and I learned a lot,
but deep down, I felt directionless—
as if something important was missing.
Meanwhile, the part of my life that truly energized me was something completely different:
designing trips.
Even before guiding, I loved planning journeys and could always create an experience that felt “just right.”
I didn’t yet realize that this passion could one day become my career.
Then one evening changed everything.
I came across a short video of a guide in Hangzhou introducing West Lake to foreign travelers.
Nothing dramatic—just honest, skillful guiding.
He used his knowledge and the way he structured the whole experience
to help those travelers understand Chinese history, culture, and everyday life.
Watching their reactions, I could see how much they were enjoying China because of him.
And in that simple moment, something inside me surged.
and I suddenly knew:
“this is what travel can do — and this is what I want to create.”
That was the moment I found my path.
Q: What Shapes Your Design?
Besides guiding, I’m first and foremost a traveler. I’ve explored around 13 countries and much of China, experiences that shaped how I see the world—and how I design journeys for others.
Because I’ve traveled so much myself, I understand what truly matters to travelers: clarity, comfort, authenticity, and the feeling of being genuinely cared for.
This is the foundation of my approach. I focus on atmosphere, timing, and emotion—on great food, hidden corners, and small everyday details that reveal the real life of a city.
Rather than lecturing or overwhelming people with facts, I create space for travelers to naturally feel Beijing—its rhythm, warmth, and humanity.
Many tell me it feels like exploring with a friend. That’s exactly the experience I hope to create.
Q: Why This Work Matters to You?
People sometimes ask why I am always so passionate and sincere in my work.
The answer is simple.
When I see travelers enjoying the journeys I designed—
when they relax, taste something new, laugh, feel touched, or truly connect with a place — I feel a deep sense of purpose.
To me, that’s everything.
Because guests are not customers. They’re people I choose to care for.
And when they leave, I hope they don’t just think, “I’ve been to Beijing,” but something more heartfelt: “I’ll miss this city.”
This is who I am—
an Experience Designer,
a traveler,
and someone who loves helping people from around the world
discover the beauty and humanity of Beijing.
This is Coco — wholeheartedly caring about every journey you take and dedicated to making your Beijing trip one of the most beautiful memories you’ll ever have.
Come explore this ancient yet modern city with me!
